As per the instruction of the Presidential Secretariat, Special Oath taking programme on "April Pledge" in respect of a Country free of drugs held on 03.04.2019 at 08.30 a.m. at the Lobby of the Ashraff Memorial Library, South Eastern University of Sri Lanka, Oluvil. The program began with the hoisting of the National flag by Acting Vice Chancellor Dr. M.G.M. Thariq attended by Deans of the Faculties, Registrar Mr. H. Abdul Saththar, Head of the Departments, other academic and non-academic staff.

Speaking at this occasion after taking the oaths in Tamil and Sinhala read out by Mr. H. Abdul Saththar, Registrar and Ms. Nipuni Dissanayake, Assistant Internal Auditor respectively, the Acting Vice Chancellor expressed the theme based on the necessity of ensuring the honest, prompt and dedication contribution of all members of the staff for this national programme on drug prevention launched for creating a drug free country.
