The objective of entering the University may differ from one to the other, but all should have one common objective, that is learning. Learning to be empowered with knowledge and enhance their educational status should be the prime motive of one who enters the University. Hence, I advise you all who have come from various parts of the Island to take greater care on their education and learning without frittering away their times energies on unwanted pursuits.

Emphasized Prof. MMM Najim, the Vice Chancellor of the South Eastern University of Sri Lanka when he was addressing the new students of the Faculty of Engineering at the Auditorium of the Faculty.

Faculty Dean Dr. S.M.Junaideen presided over the meeting attended by the Registrar H.Abdul Saththar and Academic Staff of the Faculty of Engineering.

Addressing further Vice Chancellor Prof.Najim said that those who have come here to follow the Engineering Course should determine that their sole idea is learning and the other needs are all secondary. They also should think that they have entered the University to become professionals not mere to waste their time on unwanted pursuits. Our Academics are all out to help the students at any time in their interest and for the well being of their future, he added.

Touching upon the University Prof. Najim said that South Eastern University of Sri Lanka has been located in the South Eastern Part of Sri Lanka in Oluvil in a very attractive natural surroundings with sea on the East, river on the South, Coconut grove on the North and paddy fields on the West paving the way for a very nice conducive for educational process and I am sure that this type of University is not found in any part of the Island with the such wonderful environment. Hence, I appeal to you all to make the maximum benefit out of these resources.

Later, Prof.Najim and the lecturers had a casual chat with the new students and acquainted with them.
