Prof. Najim was addressing the new students arrived here from various parts of Sri Lanka with their parents at the Orientation program presided over by the Dean of the Faculty of Applied Science Dr. UL Zainudeen.
He said a large number of students throughout the Island sit for the GCE Advanced Level Examination and only a few qualify for Universities. The cream of students come here to follow their high education and they must consider this as great opportunity to enhance their education and qualify themselves as reputed academics and professions. Government has been spending a colossal sums of money for Education and for the welfare of the students. Hence, you all should take this as great opportunity and privileges offered to them to show their talents and ability.
Vice Chancellor also advised the students to be cautious of the seniors who involves in ragging and other unwanted pursuits. Ragging the new students by the seniors is completely banned here and all facilities have been provided to the students to concentrate in their education in a very peaceful atmosphere. Any seniors engaging in ragging would severely be dealt with, so new students shouldn't pave the way the seniors to engage them in ragging. Any such instances they should inform their Heads or Dean, so that appropriate actions would be taken against them, he said.
Registrar H.Abdul Saththar, Bursar Faseelur Rahuman, Librarian Mashroofa Majeed, Heads of Department, Senior Lecturers and Faculty Staff too were present at the ceremony.
