The tree planting, the main feature of the programme organized at Oluvil Campus under the patronage of the Vice Chancellor Prof. MMM Najim was inaugurated by Deeagawapiya Parivara Chayithiya Raja Maha Viharadhipathi Pradana Adikarana Sanganayake Ven.Poddiwela Sri Chandananda where the Registrar H.Abdul Saththar, Deans, Heads of Departments and the University community activey participated. The trees were planted along both sides of the Gateway of the SEUSL Entrance.
Tree planting was followed by a memorial oration by delivered by Dr.MAM Rameez at the Auditorium of the Faculty of Islmic Studies and Arabic Language chaired by the Vice Chancellor Prof.Najim.
Addressing the Academic, Non academic staff and students at this memorial addresss Dr. Ramees said that this University, the brain child of Late Minister Dr. MHM Ashraff should produce quality students and not mere graduates with Certificates for the name sake. Late Minister Dr. Ashraff's dream was that this University must set an example for communal amity, peace and harmony with the students of all three communities. He advised the students, lecturers and other staff to determine to fulfil his missions and ideals.
A new library for the Faculty of Applied Sciences Students established at FAS's newly completed Building at Sammanthurai was ceremonially declared open by the Vice Chancellor Prof.Vice Chancellor Prof.Najim in the presence of Registrar Abdul Saththar, Librarian M.Rifaudeen, Dean of the Faculty FAS Dr.MIS Safeena and other Academics.
Late Minister Dr. Ashraff's important addresses in Parliament and other events, specially the pictures taken at South Eastern University of Sri Lanka where he played a prominent role
in establishing this University were displayed in an Exhibition to mark his memorable day organized by the Library Community headed by Librarian MM Rifaudeen.
