Establishment of a Media Access Corner at the Faculty of Arts and Culture HELVETAS Sri Lanka has generously donated 1.5 million worth of equipment under the InSPIRE Project to establish a Media Access Corner at the Faculty of Arts and Culture on March 30th, 2023
The project is being implemented by HELVETAS Intercooperation gGmbH in partnership with the Sri Lanka Development Journalist Forum (SDJF) and funded by the European Union.
The esteemed Chief Guest, Prof. A. Rameez, Vice Chancellor, graced the occasion and expressed his views during his address, highlighting the importance of the establishment of a Media Access Corner for present and future media and journalism undergraduate students. He emphasized the significance of enhancing technical skills and knowledge in media and communications to promote freedom of expression. Prof. Rameez also encouraged the students to use the media equipment donated by HELVETAS as effectively and efficiently as possible.
Ms. Chandula Kumbukage, Project Manager InSPIRE, HELVETAS Sri Lanka, and her team from HELVETAS and SDJF were guests at the event. The ceremony was chaired by Prof. MM. Fazil, Dean, the Faculty of Arts and Culture, and was attended by professors, heads of departments, academics, administrators, non-academics, and students.
This Media Access Corner will provide an excellent opportunity for the students to enhance their technical skills and knowledge in media and communications, giving them the tools to excel in their future careers. The equipment donated by HELVETAS will play a vital role in facilitating this process. The establishment of this Media Access Corner is a significant milestone, and the Faculty of Arts and Culture is grateful for the support of HELVETAS and SDJF, and the European Union.
