Technology and Innovation Support Centre (TISC), the first Centre outside the Western Province, coming under the purview of National Intellectual Property Office (NIPO) which is the country representative of World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) and also the subsidy of United Nations Organization is to be established in the South Eastern University of Sri Lanka and all arrangements in these connections are being finalized under the guidance of the Vice Chancellor Prof. MMM Najim.

Director Research Innovation Centre Dr.AM Muzathik, Head of the Mechanical Engineering Department of the South Eastern University who has been appointed as the Coordinator of the TISC, South Eastern University of Sri Lanka held very cordial and lively discussions about the functioning of the Centre with the Deputy Director NIPO Nalinda Atapattu at the TISC of SEUSL. The discussions were mainly centered on facilities access to patent databases and other scientific and technology resources, training local users through on site and distance learning, providing information's and training materials, supporting awareness-raising activities. Technology and Innovation Support Centres are designed to provide innovators with access to locally based, high quality technology information services and other related services. Within the context of a joint engagement with national and regional industrial property authorities, the World Intellectual property Organization (WIPO) supports the effective operation on TISCs.
