The inaugural session was chaired by Dr. S.M. Junaideen, Dean, Faculty of Engineering, representing the Vice Chancellor Prof. M.M.M Najim, who was unable to attend due to unavoidable circumstances, while a special message of the Vice Chancellor was read by Mr. A.L.M.A Sameem, the secretary of the symposium. Prof Ajith de Alwis, a Senior Professor at the Department of Chemical and Process Engineering, University of Moratuwa and the Project Director for Coordinating Secretariat for Science, Technology and Innovation (COSTI), Sri Lanka, delivered the Keynote Address. Dr. M.J.M. Jafeen, the coordinator of the symposium delivered the Welcome Address while the secretary of the symposium proposed the Vote of Thanks.
