South Eastern University of Sri Lanka celebrated the New Year 2017 with taking oaths to affirm work sincerely and honestly while contributing for the country's prosperous and sovereignty on Monday. The program began with the hoisting of the National flag by Vice chancellor Prof.MMM.Najim attended by Dean, Acting. Registrar A.Thyub, Heads of Departments and other academic and bon academic staff.

Speaking at this occasion after taking the oaths in Tamil and Sinhala read out by Acting Registrar Thayub and Prof Naim respectively, the Vice Chancellor said that we all should impart our duty sincerely and honestly and should fulfill the vision and mission of the University. At a time when we strive hard to achieve this goal we also should determine to eradicate poverty and build a society with peace and prosperity. The Government has been spending colossal sums of money for the higher education and especially for the South Eastern University of Sri Lanka and hence we all must be patriotic to the country and divert our attention towards the down trodden masses of the District who are struggling for life. Finally he wanted the academics and non-academics to thing of the them.
