With the sole objective of providing and facilitating the Capital Market Information, historical data's and current and updated information in the field the marketing to under graduates and Academics in a very detailed manner, Capital Market Information Centre, coming under the purview of Securities and Exchange Commission of Sri Lanka, first of its kind was ceremonially opened at Library of the Eastern University of Sri Lanka on Wednesday (16th Nov).
The Centre which was an outcome of the efforts taken by the Faculty of Management and Commerce was ceremonially launched its operation by the Vice Chancellor of the University Prof.MMM Najim who graced the occasion as Chief Guest. Acting Registrar MI Nawfer, Librarian MM Rifaudeen, Deans AshSheikh SMM Mazahir (FIA)), Fousul Ameer (FAC), Heads d Departments, Academics and Senior Lecturers too participated in the ceremony.
Speaking at the ceremony presided over by the Coordinator of the Project and Senior Lecturer Dr. ALM Rauf, the Chief Guest Prof.MMM Najim said that the Centre is big boon to the Students of the Faculty of management who are eager to enhance their knowledge. Hence, he appealed to the students to get the maximum benefit out of this Centre. He also thanked those who were Mainly instrumental in bringing this entre for the welfare o the Students.
Asst. Director Capital market Education and Training Suneth Perera in his address said the Securities and Exchange Commission of Sri Lanka (SEC) as the regulator of the Capital Market always strive to improve the financial literacy in the country as we firmly believe the creation of a knowledge-based, knowledge-led industry is pivotal for the sustainable development of the Capital Market.
In order to cater to the immensely challenging economic environment, we employ various knowledge building and awareness creating tools and techniques to reach out to the masses and specific target groups such as school children, teachers, undergraduates, professionals and the business community, he added.
