South Eastern University of Sri Lanka (SEUSL)

SEUSL is located in the coastal town of Oluvil in the Ampara district. The Oluvil and its environs have a historical significant and a distinctive environmental configuration. The region was known as the "Granary of the East". Today however, the major gainful occupations of the local community are mostly agriculture, fishing, handicrafts, and animal husbandry. The Ampara district is unique in the demography of Sri Lanka, in that it has almost a balanced distribution of all communities of the island. Thus, the SEUSL in terms of its interaction with the various communities should be seen as a healing agent and an engine of social harmony. The University complex at Oluvil is surrounded by Bay of Bengal, Kaliodairiver, harbor, sandy beaches and scenic attractions.
