Research and Innovation Centre was established in year 2014. The main objective of the RIC serves as the guidepost for the university to reach its full potential in research and scholarly activity which will enhance Sri Lanka's future economic, social and cultural well-being. Further, the RIC is to promote and facilitate leading edge, high-quality basic and applied research and development activities including collaborative and interdisciplinary research at University level. In order to achieve this objective, RIC will build and provide sufficient support to the researchers and will assist in enhancing research capacity at the University. RIC will also develop and maintain network between local and foreign research centres and researchers in the public and private sectors, and graduate students. Further, RIC create an environment to foster development of intellectual property to the benefit of the Sri Lankan economy.
