New Students welcomed at FIA
With the sole idea of imparting a quality education and producing a good and cultured citizen of Sri Lanka, Ministry of Higher Education has been spending a colossal sums of money. Hence, it's our bounden duty to make use this resources in useful way rather than engaging their times and energies in unwanted pursuits. The new students who come here from various parts of Sri Lanka should understand this very carefully and make use of every opportunity to enhance their education.
Said Vice Chancellor of South Eastern University of Sri Lanka Prof. MMM Najim. He was addressing the new students of the Faculty of Islamic Studies and Arabic Language at their Orientation Program held at FIA Auditorium recently.
Dean of the Faculty of Islamic Studies and Arabic Language Dr.SMM Mazahir presided over the ceremony.
Addressing the students further Prof. Najim said that you all may have come here from various parts of Sri Lanka and this environment may have given some students a different experience. New place, new friends, new lecturers and above all new routinal life style. Some of them may have left their family members for the first time. With all these challenges and obstacles you all have to come through and set up a new life. He also added that SEUSL has strictly banned the 'ragging' and this Faculty has affirmed to not to involve in ragging. In spite of all these strict instructions some may involve in these activities without our knowledge. If anyone of you are being subjected to this unwanted harassment please keep us informed, so that we will take appropriate actions against them.
Finally, he stressed upon focusing on education and he reiterated the new students to concentrate in their academic affairs and this should be their main objective in these very good environments, he concluded.
Senior Lecturer Dr. MI. Jazeel, Senior lecturer MSM Jalaldeen, Head of Islamic Studies MHM Nairose, Head of Arabic Studies Dr. AR. Nasar also addressed the students.
